Lectio Divina to encounter God more fully when receiving the sacraments.
These resources are intended to help parishioners, especially parents of children in sacramental preparation, to learn to pray with the Scriptures and discover the Church’s rich sacramental heritage through the Catechism. Each booklet opens with a basic introduction to lectio divina prayer and includes three sessions that meditate upon a passage from scripture and two passages from the catechism. Each session concludes with large group sharing. Available in English and Spanish!

BAPTISM

The Baptism booklet reflects on the scriptural basis for this sacrament of initiation, explores the baptism of Jesus, the necessity of the sacrament for salvation, and St. Paul’s insights on baptism.

RECONCILIATION

The Reconciliation booklet explores the scriptural foundation where Jesus gives the apostles authority to forgive sins, the role of repentance in converting to the Lord, and the relationship between reconciliation and the Mass.

CONFIRMATON

The Confirmation booklet reflects on the roots of the sacrament in the event of Pentecost, the need to be filled by the Holy Spirit in Christian life, and the role of the Holy Spirit in guiding our lives and mission.

EUCHARIST

 The Eucharist booklet focuses on the institution of the Eucharist at the Last Supper, the Lord’s own proclamation of the need to consume his flesh and blood, and the devotion of the early Church to the celebration of Mass.
